Timmonsville lies in the western part of Florence County, South Carolina. In the most recent census, Timmonsville has a population of 2,320 with slight growth from the 2000 Census. The census revealed a median household income of $23,514. The area once thrived with tobacco markets dominating the town's economic. Today, Honda of South Carolina Manufacturing, Inc., is the major economic engine. Despite the 1998 addition of Honda to the community, Timmonsville has many economic challenges; however, over the past three years, the town has completed several revitalization projects to include updating Highway 76 and roads, water and sewage system.
